  2. FVES provides a schoolwide reading program to give students and parents access to books which may be limited at home. Also, our school provides a support system through our counselor. She meets with students in small groups or one-on-one to provide support. She helps students talk about their issues as well as teach them important coping strategies. Another support system is the team interventions which provide support for students through parent/teacher conferences and PST/IEP meetings. These meetings allows discussion about the student's strenghts and weaknesses, as well as making plans for the student to be successful in the classroom.

  3. Carman and Brenda have discussed the support systems at our school. I will add one more. Mrs. Copeland's reading incentive parties really motivates children to read more. This program adds depth to the AR Reading program.

  4. In the past we have had teachers that have looped with their students, so these students were with the same teacher for at least two years. Mrs. Stubbs also does a wonderful job of teaching our students coping strategies through her whole group, small group, and one-on-one lessons. Mrs. Copeland also does a great job of promoting our supplemental reading programs like Ar and reading incentive parties.
